Dryer sheets- do you use them? The truth is they are terrible for you, your clothes and the environment.
Why are dryer sheets terrible?
- The harmful ingredients in dryer sheets include benzyl acetate (linked to pancreatic cancer), benzyl alcohol (an upper respiratory tract irritant), ethanol (linked to central nervous system disorders), limonene (a known carcinogen) and chloroform (a neurotoxin and carcinogen), among others...don’t get me started on synthetic fragrances (see our insta post on this topic).
- Dryer sheets also create a film on your dryer which can clog up the lint filter creating more lint on your clothes and obstructing air flow which will make your dryer less efficient.
- Lastly, they are just extra useless waste!
So what’s the alternative to dryer sheets?
We all love fresh smelling laundry! Mint's all natural fabric softener smells AH-MAZING and is totally non toxic and environmentally friendly! Another alternative is wool dryer balls with a few drops of essential oil on them (see our insta post on the benefits of dryer balls)
So have I convinced you to skip dryer sheets next time you do laundry?
